Want to kick start your PR career or learn new communication skills in 2018? Looking for courses in PR, digital and social marketing or brand activations and events that deliver best-in-class tools and techniques, flexibility and some serious industry clout? Hello HSPR!

1. Let’s start with HSPR’s unrivaled industry credibility

We have developed the only BSB50215 Diploma of Business qualification in Australia to be accredited by the PR industry’s peak body, PRIA

We have set the bar for content that is relevant, has been developed with widespread industry input to ensure best practice tools and techniques and is delivered by current industry experts. We are part of the Hausmann Group, one of Australia’s most prominent PR consultancies developing and delivering communications campaigns for global brands.

2.  Flexibility is the key to study success

We get it! You’re busy and need to fit study around work and personal commitments.

Our learning program is designed to be flexible enough to fit around most people’s working week. We work with you to determine a timeframe that’s going to work for you.

Tailored learning and assessments mean we can match your current or future working environment, industry, requirements and skills gaps. You can complete one unit, a short course focused on a specific skill set – PR, Social and Digital Marketing, or Events and Brand Activations, or the full Nationally Recognised BSB50215 Diploma in Business qualification. Your choice.

No debt on course completion. We don’t offer loan schemes but we do offer interest-free payment plans so you graduate with real skills, debt-free!

3. Online first

All HSPR courses have been designed as online courses. The resource-rich HSPR learning portal houses presentations, videos, workplace examples, tools and templates, all available 24/7.

Online learning is complemented with real-time support. Live fortnightly webinars consolidate learning; one-on-one sessions develop and hone skills. By combining online with this tailored real-time support, you’re getting the best of both worlds.

4. Delivering real-life know-how

Current cast studies, real briefs and real-life assessments – in real time. You don’t just learn how to develop a brief, inform strategy, implement a campaign, develop a social media calendar, hold an event; you do it – in real life.

We provide you with a supportive learning environment under the supervision of a seasoned pro. You gain a working confidence in your new comms skills and develop a portfolio of ‘show ‘n tell’ for the future.

5.   Your place or ours?

Work when and where it suits you. Many choose to study at home or as part of their 9 to 5, but you are welcome to use our on-site ‘hot desk’ to learn alongside Hausmann Group’s expert consultants.

And by the way, your workplace is going to love you! In many cases, employers will benefit from a high-quality, professionally developed and executed communications plan, a social media campaign or an event/experiential activity. Some even foot the bill for your study. Win/win!

Don’t have an appropriate workplace-based project to work on? No problem! We have a variety of real-life briefs and projects that we’d be only too happy for you to ‘work’ on for assessment and learning purposes.   You are also welcome to ‘intern’ with us to gain workplace experience.

6.   Have we mentioned our industry connections yet?

Discovering a passion for PR

When Susannah joined the HSPR Grad School program she was unsure of her future career.  Already well into the Public Service recruitment process and all set for a job offer in Canberra – Susannah came along to ‘road test’ PR.  Happily, for the PR industry, she liked what she experienced and has become a rising star within the Herd Agency.

“The HSPR course gave me a real taste of the industry and insight into how one of Australia’s largest independent PR agencies operates on a day to day basis. Ultimately the course brought together the knowledge I had accumulated at university and let me apply it to real life scenarios and clients.

The topics we covered were varied and ranged from compiling media lists, to learning how to run an effective brainstorm. The best part was that they were all run by seasoned professionals who could draw upon a wealth of experience and insight.

In my penultimate year of university, I was offered roles across several industries and looking back, HSPR heavily influenced by decision to take a graduate position at N2N Communications. Now I work across some of Australia’s most recognised brands, including Facebook, Airbnb, TABCORP, Schneider Electric and Vocus Communications.”

Walking straight into her dream job in PR

After completing Grad School mid-year, Gabby was offered an internship at Hausmann Communications providing her with an opportunity to practice what she learnt on the course and gain valuable work experience while she completed uni.  Gabby really impressed everyone!  She was offered a full time position as a Junior Consultant and is currently working on campaigns for a range of global brands.  Gabby has an incredibly bright future and we just love having her in the ‘haus’!

“Whether it’s about confidence in interviewing for a new job, the ability to excel in your current role or even transition into a different industry, having real-life experience is what sets people apart in the professional world. The HSPR Grad School course is a unique opportunity to attain that experience, and without it, I wouldn’t be in the position I am today.

HSPR Grad School helped me to develop new skills and upgrade existing ones, and helped me achieve my ultimate goal – to secure a great job in a leading consultancy.

During the course, I was truly able to put theory into practice, from learning about strategy and campaign development, to completing tasks in media release writing and pitching techniques. The hands-on nature of HSPR gave me invaluable on-the-job skills in strategic thinking, idea generation, media relations, brand journalism, social media, and project management. As a result, and in conjunction with personal career counselling, I left HSPR feeling knowledgeable, capable, and experienced, all ensuring I was ‘workplace ready’.

One of the most valuable things I gained from the course was industry connections. Throughout the course, we were given the opportunity to network with like-minded students and individuals wanting to progress, current industry experts, and experienced PR practitioners. It is these relationships that I will take with me into my future career,” said Gabby.

An award-winning career in PR

John attended the HSPR Graduate School program in his final year at University of Notre Dame, Sydney.  Keen to enter the PR workforce, John was unsure how to best leverage his past skills (as a pharmacy assistant) and how he could capitalise on his passion for health and wellness.  HSPR helped him find the perfect opportunity.  And what a success it’s been!

“HSPR enabled a fast-tracked career into the world of healthcare PR.  First as an Account Executive and now Senior Account Executive at VIVA! Communications working on many award-winning campaigns.

HSPR Grad School provided an insight into the daily activities of an emerging PR practitioner with real life examples and fantastic mentors to share their experience and knowledge in an actual agency environment.

The best part was learning about the delivery of successful public relations campaigns and activities including stakeholder management.

The networking opportunities went far beyond my expectations.  My HSPR trainer recommended me to VIVA! Communications where I landed my first role as an account executive.  I’ve been steadily progressing my career ever since.

I really do credit HSPR as a major part of my professional career growth,” said John.

How HSPR helped Tamma get a promotion

HSPR is committed to providing quality education and experiences to all learners – no matter where they live across Australia. In fact, our courses are designed and developed to be delivered online first.

Online learning is coupled with real-time support to ensure each learner is provided with the best opportunities to succeed. Extensive one-on-one support is a hallmark of HSPR and why our online learners can achieve such impressive professional success – no matter where they live!

Meet Tamma who began her study while living and working in Alice Springs.

“I have studied with HSPR since 2014 and have successfully completed two courses – an Executive Program in Public Relations and, most recently my BSB50215 Diploma of Business.

The subjects are spot-on in terms of providing me the opportunity to gain necessary skills and relevant knowledge. The skills I’ve learnt have not only excelled my performance in my PR roles but have been a major contributor to job promotions along the way.

Currently, I am working for NT Tourism in the International Public Relations space focusing on key global markets.

Learning with HSPR has given me a broad understanding of the foundations of Public Relations, enabled me to implement these learnings into my day to day tasks and successfully manage working across a diverse number of countries, cultures, segments and varied target consumers.

The best part of studying with HSPR is being able to do it online! It is amazing to be able to live in a remote location like Darwin and still be able to study and gain relevant qualifications through the one of the country’s most highly regarded Public Relations agency-led training organisations.

My confidence level in making critical decisions, creating copy and implementing complex PR campaigns has consistently grown with the more I learn.

My education will continue in 2017 with HSPR and the University of Wollongong’s Graduate Certificate in Public Relations,” she said.

Growing workplace confidence and a voice at the C Suite

With several university qualifications, including a Masters degree, already under her belt, Ruth was looking for a recognised training solution that could deliver practical skills online, offered training she could complete while working full-time, and offered some flexibility in her study schedule to work around busy periods at work.

Ruth selected HSPR as the ideal training partner because of our course delivery designed specifically for online training, the workplace integration of all assessment activities – meaning this became part of her day to day job rather than a cumbersome additional workload, the flexibility a bespoke training package provided, and the one-on-one trainer support which saw her skills and confidence grow enormously over the course of her studies.

“What I liked best about the course is that I could integrate the seminars into my working week, and apply the assignments to my actual work – which I still refer to for planning and evaluating and to help spark creative thinking!”

“I work full-time in business development and the new skills I gained combined with the feedback and guidance from the tutor gave me a lot more work-confidence in things such as discussing potential new projects with my boss.”

Ruth completed the Executive Program in PR Practice in late 2016 but has enjoyed the experience so much and learnt so many new valuable skills, she plans to continue her studies with HSPR in 2017 by enrolling in a writing course.    We look forward to welcoming her back!
